What do you do when people try to convert you?

I do not understand why anyone would go door-to-door trying to convert others into their religion. I deal with that constantly (despite "no soliciting" signs) and I don't get it. What makes a person think they know how anyone else should believe??

I live in the middle of the countryside and have trained doggies. Last time someone tried to come to my door to do that by the time I answered the door she was shaking like a leaf and paler than a plastered wall. The fact I answered holding a hunting rifle was just the cherry on top. Still, she tried... Gotta give her props for still trying after walking 2 minutes up to my house from the gate in the back *** of nowhere while four large dogs were barking at her.

If they're Catholic, I just refer them to Matthew 10:14, which basically says that if I don't want to hear about their belief system they can't force it upon me. But I don't think Protestants consider the book that's in as part of the Holy Bible. For everybody else, I tell them that they are an atheist, just as I am. The only difference between us is they don't believe in one less god than I do. The reason they don't believe in all those other gods, such as Zeus, Shiva, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster, is the same reason I don't believe in theirs. Once they understand why they don't believe in these gods, they will understand why I don't believe in theirs.

The last time they came to my door about 10 years ago with a small child in hand I blasted them for the child abuse they were subjecting their child to. The conversation was one way, they didn't get in a word and they left with an urgency in their step like they'd been face to face with the devil and they've never returned.

I don't think door-to-door peddling is very effective at all, because it seems to create animosity, as in your case. I'm sure by now that you've had plenty of chances to hear the Gospel, and if God isn't drawing you to Him, it's not meant to be for you. When people resist the Lord Jesus Christ over and over, eventually he gives up on them, and wipes the dust off his feet.

I haven't really had that problem. On the rare occasions when a proselytizer has knocked on my door and I had time to play with them, the smile on my face apparently made them decide they had to be elsewhere.

    True story.

I once answered the door with wide eyes and a thousand yard stare when some Jehova's Witnesses ame knocking. They said, "Hello, we'd like to talk to you about Jesus Christ (or some sh!t.)"

I made my eyes wider, looked past both of them, put a demonic gurgle in my voice and yelled, "SPEAK NOT OF HE WHO CARRIES THE BLOOD OF THE FATHER!" And slammed the door.

    I was never visited again.

Ask them for evidence which they can never provide.

As for random people coming to my doorstep, I just tell them off, and shut the door.

I am polite and say, "I am very happy with my own religion, thank you, so I won't waste any of your time."
