If you could go back in time and enter any historical figure's mind, who would you choose and why?

I'd would go back and find out Richard III's thoughts after Edward IV died. I'm a Yorkist, and I would love to read his thoughts and figure out his actual intentions.

You?

Update:

@Eques - I thought there was an apostrophe in "figure's" in this context because the mind belongs to the person, and I didn't mean the word as a plural.

The First Century. I'd interview Jesus.

    Who are you?

Are you REALLY the Son of God? etc, etc.

Imagine all of the arguments that could be settled.

You have already chosen the person who is my favourite

character from the Plantagenet era, Richard would have

    been my choice.

As you have already chosen him, I should have liked to

know what Edward IV was really like, and what he felt

    for Richard.

Going into Richard III's mind would be pretty interesting, though my top choice would be Mary Tudor - I'd like to know her opinions on what she was doing, and her feelings at Philip II's betrayal.

Julius Caesar would be my choice just so I could experience the thoughts and feelings

of the head of the greatest empire the world ever saw : )

I'd like to know what he was really thinking, and why, late July/early August 1914.

Hayek and Friedman: just to see if they really thought, what they said or just hated/despised the working classes and whether they (and politicians who followed their advice like Reagan and Thatcher) were paid by the big corporations.

Mary, Queen of. Scots. I would like to know if she really did participate in the murder of Darnley, what she really thought of Bothwell, and whether she was complicity in the plot to kill Elizabeth and put Mary on the throne.

Am I allowed to mess with them while I'm there? Because I'd pick Hitler, maybe Charles Manson. Manson would probably be more interesting if I'm not allowed to touch anything.

  • Hmm, possibly Abraham Lincoln. I'd like to know what he was thinking when courageously helped free the slaves.

Genghis Khan because, as my name suggests, his story really interests me.
