good grief. does anyone around here actually know what a christian is?

Sadly, this forum is being overrun by people who don't believe in God, who appear to hate Christians and who mock, scoff and ridicule any person who has religious faith. Frankly, I can only conclude their motivation is simply to foment.

Followers of Jesus Christ were first called “Christians” in Antioch (Acts 11:26) because their behavior, activity, and speech were like Christ. The word “Christian” literally means, “belonging to the party of Christ” or a “follower of Christ.”

Unfortunately over time, the word “Christian” has lost a great deal of its significance and is often used of someone who is religious or has high moral values but who may or may not be a true follower of Jesus Christ. Many people who do not believe and trust in Jesus Christ consider themselves Christians simply because they go to church or they live in a “Christian” nation. But going to church, serving those less fortunate than you, or being a good person does not make you a Christian. Going to church does not make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you an automobile. Being a member of a church, attending services regularly, and giving to the work of the church does not make you a Christian.

The Bible teaches that the good works we do cannot make us acceptable to God. Titus 3:5 says, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” So, a Christian is someone who has been born again by God (John 3:3; John 3:7; 1 Peter 1:23) and has put faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8 tells us that it is “…by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

A true Christian is a person who has put faith and trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ, including His death on the cross as payment for sins and His resurrection on the third day. John 1:12 tells us, “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4, 10). A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Jesus Christ.

christians are forbidden to do any of those things

if they do them and die without repenting, they will go to hell with all the other sinners

- Which means all they have to do is kiss the ecclesiastical a$$ on Sunday and they are good for another week. We atheists have to actually take responsibility for our actions.

Some Christians, sadly, probably have. I mean Christians are not perfect either. Some people disguise themselves as Christians to gain more respect from others because I guess they think that they'll get away with it better or something. I don't know. Their strategy is confusing.

Christians are people who worship Jesus as a god. They believe only he can forgive sin.

Those who came from Europe to the Americas came in the name of a god. They killed and raped in the name of Christianity. They are still doing it today.

Jesus is not God Almighty. Only God the Father of all can forgive sin. No man can die for another person's sin.

Whether they know it or not they are following Catholic doctrine. Murdering and raping in the name of Jesus.

When I hear someone is a Christian I run the other way. All the people who told me they were Christians have done me wrong. Stolen from me. Lied to me and about me. All in the name of Jesus.

Being a Christian is not a good thing.

Believing in the One true God, El Shaddi is the only way to Heaven/afterlife. Pray only to Him.

My decendents were raped and murdered by Christians/Catholics in the name of Jesus/god. So I know first hand what a Christian is...

there are FAR fewer "Christians" than those of the world think there are..... and there are a whole lot who think they are "Christians" who are not.... and there is great ignorance concerning what it is that a "Christian" actually believes........... many... most it seems on YA... who attack Christians... are basing their prejudice upon the history of the papist catholics... and all the autocracies they have committed.... for which they do not have... and never have had... any Authority from God to commit....... and those of The True church commissioned by God( all those of The True Christian Faith) suffer for the acts of the papist... not to say that even True Christians have not committed acts against God's Will....

on hell..... the souls of humans will NOT be sent to hell.... hell has been prepared for the eternal confinement of satan and those angels who followed him in rebellion against God

The souls of those who reject God, will be rejected by God..... those will be cast into the lake of fire and consumed.... cease to exist... the true death

and... it is not sin that causes anyone to be rejected by God.... The sin debt of all of man-kind has been Paid-in-Full by The Blood of Christ....... those who ignore God's Call and reject Him... will be rejected by God

Christians do those things because they are humans and make mistake. No one is perfect christians have done a lot of crimes. Just because you're a Christian doesn't mean you won't do bad things.

You don't either. You think like some Apostolic Pentecostals that I know.

YOUR repentance formula is what saves you. I don't know if you realize it, but that's what you are saying.

This is labeled a Religion and spirituality , but it is not . So a better idea go to a local coffee shop and strike up good healthy dialogue .
