Is it polite or rude to wish anyone a "Happy Black Friday" today?

Black Friday is, to me, one of the most abominable celebrations of conspicuous consumption it has ever been my displeasure to observe. Even the name (which I know refers to "black ink" in the books of account) has a kind of evil undertone to it - as if something terrible happened on "black" Friday. Well, I suppose something terrible does happen - the asinine assault of mutants who seem to respond on cue to the advertising nonsense which drives them to buy what few people actually need. Later, they collapse in exhausted heaps of jelly as they recount the challenge of shopping.

I'd be neither flattered nor offended by anyone wishing me "Happy Black Friday," but I would simply respond that I am happy not to be a part of it.

Why not simply wish them a good day? "Black Friday" is no better, no worse than any other. A lot of people who feel pressured into participation of the shopping frenzy would probably appreciate a kind word and a smile.

Its stupid. Its not a holiday its just term used for the day after Thanksgiving. Just wish someone a good day.
