How is/was college/university for you?
I'm one of those millions heading off to study in a college/university setting next year.
I'm just wondering how the experience is/was for you?
Hopefully, you could tell me what program you are in and how life is at university.
Any tips/suggestions for first year?
Any other comments about your college/university life would be much appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

It is more of a love/hate relationship. Okay, I'm just going to say it....I love college but I miss high school =/ Now, that I said it, I will tell you why. I love college because the freedom of choosing your own classes and professors but... I miss my friends! We are all at different colleges and it sucks seeing them only on winter and summer breaks (a girl needs her friends and it is a cruel punishment to be without them). I am currently attending a nearby community college but I already applied for transfer to either Cal State Long Beach, Northridge, or L.A. I am hoping to be accepted to Northridge or Long Beach (Good English Departments). Although, if accepted at Northridge I will attend there because my best friend is in L.A. at Otis College of Fine Art and Design (can't pass up being roomies with my best bud!) I also hope to transfer to UCLA after a year or so (we shall see I may change my mind lol)
In college be prepared for A LOT of reading. I would say its about 20-40 pages per course (you must read! Got to keep that gpa up!) My sister was in a terrible shock with college (poor thing, I tried to warn her. She's not much of a reader) Anyway, before registering for classes check out the professors (we don't want you to have bad professors that would make your first semester a nightmare!) A helpful website is ratemyprofessor.com. You should also check out some private scholarships that the school offers. I have won two and since you are such a good writer, you will no doubt win some as well. Choose a club and stick with it if you are going to community college because it looks good on UC applications.
I'm studying for finals now...The last two weeks of the semester is horrible. I am practically dead by the last day of school. My eyes were bloodshot last semester and I couldn't stop my hand from shaking. High stress time but if you study you can do it and just think of the 2-3 month vacation. oh, dear I hope I didn't scare you! Last semester I took 5 classes and I received my first C. I was devastated because it brought down my gpa. Grrr! It's not always that bad I think this semester will be a bit easier. Although I am worried about one class. Hopefully everything works out :-)
Hmmm...that's all that I can think of right now. Hope I helped
