Whatever happened to Dany Heatley? (NHL)?

Not Heatley himself but his play. I mean, this is Canada's all time leading scorer....and as soon as he hit 30, he has just gone downhill.

11 points through 32 games!

Update:

Come on guys....since the lock-out and rule changes up until 2010, he averaged 45 goals a season.

Update 2:

Out of shape sounds logical....and as you guys say, not the greatest skater so a deadly formula. Keith Tckchuk syndrome?

Update 3:

Stevie-Karma? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Love to hear an explanation for that one. That's not typical Washington douchebaggery coming out is it?

Update 4:

"Manslaughters his best friend?" Because he was speeding and I am sure that Snyder was encouraging him (he loved speed).....yup DOUCHEBAG...I stand by my comment.

Burned a lot of bridges and that mental toll (the accident, the multiple trade demands) wore him down. Never a great skater and now even worse, it appears in the games I have seen he is lethargic, slow, unwilling to go to the hard spots and he seems to be in poor physical conditioning. And the game has changed from his top years and now speed dictates pace, he just doesn't have the wheels to keep up. Knowing Danny I fully expected a banner year given it is a contract year for him and history suggests he loves playing hard for his next deal but at this point I truly don't think he cares or has the passion to be a top player anymore. His deterioration reminds me very much of Jimmy Carson where the pressure and expectation just wore him down with the only difference being Heater managed to milk more years and money out of his loss of heart. He may hang on for a couple more years but it seems his reality now is if he does try to hang around it will be on a one year deal at a team friendly cost ($1.5-2 mill.) or he does what Carson did and cling to the game in the minors for as long as he can handle bus rides before he simply hangs them up.

    A few things

    1. Heatley has never been a fast skater, he's always had problems with speed but in 2005 he blew out his MCL in that drunken car wreck and he's never been the same player since, whatever speed he did have was gone

    2. Heatley is a cocky guy- As soon as he got that big contract by the sens he stopped caring and he stopped trying.

I think VIP has it, he never was in the best of shape and he just can't seem to keep up anymore. Great shot but that isn't enough in todays game. Not the same talent level but kind of reminds me of Latendresse.

Initially the Hossa Heatley trade looked about even, there careers certainly have gone in opposite directions in recent years. In hindsight the Hossa/ heatley trade was the beginning of the decline of the Sens if we are to believe that that was why Chara chose to leave as a UFA.

Heatley is Canada's leading scorer because of the World Championships ... aka the Loserbowl

Karma. A guy manslaughters his best friend yet you decide that the person who points out said fact is the one who's the "doucbag". Keep riding celebrity D, buddy. That's one messed up value system you've got.
