How to get fleece pajamas to smell clean and fresh?
I have tried using baking soda and vinegar along with detergent but the fleece pajamas still just don't smell very fresh after laundering.

You will not have to worry if you place the PJ's in some cold water to which you have added diluted non perfumed laundry bleach. You dilute let's say 1/2 cup of bleach in two gallons of water ( a water basin full). submerge whatever laundry that has an offencive smell and wait at least 10 minutes.
Make sure that you stir the water before you put in the laundry , stir right after that and then stir every 3 minutes. after 10 minutes is up drain (throw out the mixture) - refill the basin or tub or whatever you use ( you can even use your bathtub ) and put back your laundry. Now sir or squeeze with gloved hands and wring out. This odour that remains is similar to that of fresh snow and goes away after a short time but if you still so not like it rinse again.
Alternatively you can make use of your wash machine.

That's one reason that I prefer the traditional cotton flannel, over the polyester fleece. You might try soaking them in a sink of warm water and about two cups of vinegar, for a few hours. But as another poster mentioned, dyes could be the problem. Good luck!

Since fleece is a synthetic material, it's stink may come from the dyes in which case, they will never be "fresh." You can try the scented crystals you put in the washing machine or use a dryer sheet. If that doesn't work you are down to spraying them with Febreeze when you remove them from the dryer. If that doesn't work.........punt.

Fleece tends to shrink a little
So wash on cold add fabric softener
Then use dryer balls on a warm setting
They should come out lovely soft and fluffy feeling

I sell doTERRA, so I used the lemon essential oil in the wash. That worked great, but I have to use it every time. I have no idea what causes that odor. I wish I knew. Thank goodness I get my oils wholesale.
