Green tinge in dogs water feeder?

I thought it was just a trick of sunlight but could it be algae in the water feeder part?

Should I buy a new water feeder?

Update:

i do wash it its just odd

    Its Likely Algae

And since you thought it was a trick of the sunlight then that means that the water feeder is getting a fair amount of sun during the day.

I would empty, clean it real well and move it somewhere that doesn't get sunlight. The sunlight causes any trace amounts of algae that was in the tap water (it can happen) to photosynthesize and grow and multiply. So it would give you algae blooms.

Clean it real well and move it somewhere without sun. No need to replace unless it is coming back.

The green is algae ... you need to clean the water dish MUCH more often if it is growing algae!

Water needs to be clean and provided fresh to your dog,

Get the green thing out of the water dish.

I would suggest using vinegar to clean it. Its a good cleaner and its not toxic to your dog.
