Can't shift gears ??
Hello ,
Last week , after starting the car , i had found a problem.
I could not shift to the 1st , 2nd and the third gear , rest was fine.
But sometimes , the second and third works .
I took it to a dealer , he told me there is some problem which he did not explain, and also told that he will fix it for now.
After the fix , the first gear would not engage , but if i apply force holding the gear in first position , it would engage but some times grind. The second gear has become very tight and the third is not tight but would not engage at times.
What could be the problem ?
@liverhuyen well , what I meant is , he told he will adjust it for the time being , and not fix it , my bad.
But sadly there are , because mine is an example. Most of them suggested me taking the vehicle there , and when I asked whats the problem , the guy was stuttering , and speaking some **** as he actually did not know to speak english. Can you guys estimate an approx. repair cost ?
Oops sorry , its a Tata Indigo 2009

Your story is full of crabs. If the dealer has repaired the problem as you've said: "I took it to a dealer , he told me there is some problem which he did not explain, and also told that he will fix it for now. After the fix ,"
The shifting problem if you want to know is involving the clutch replacement or the synchronizer rings inside any manual transmission (Worn out/ Damaged) or other mechanical failures related like the clutch M/C etc.
Edit: There is no dealer or any repair shop will do such a poor job in repair and not explaining to you what went wrong or what need to be done. Period!!
Edit again: It's the synchronizer. Cost depend on where you're at. The transmission has to come off for repair. HTH
