What do you carry for concealed carry?
I was just wondering what do others carry for their CCW applications. List the gun you use and the caliber and why. Over the past few years I've carried lots of different handguns for concealed carry and some were better than others. Glock 19, Glock 23, Glock 26, Springfield LW Operator 1911, Springfeild Mil-Spec 1911, S&W air weight j frame .38, Springfield XDs9, Ruger SP101 and even a S&W 629 talo .44 magnum. I have to say I'm starting to carry the SP101 the most now cuz it's not air light so I know it's there, but it's not too heavy unlike the Milspec and 629 talo. And I feel .357 magnum will get the job done!!

Agreeably concealed carry is a federal offence with out a permit. I use a belt holster to "open carry" and use a coat or overhang a shirt for "concealed carry".

I carry a Ruger LC9 which is a 9mm. I carry inside the waist because I'm an active person who is always doing something. I need a gun that won't get in the way so I'll actually carry it. I'm a "normal" size guy in reasonably good shape and carrying a big gun is just too hard to conceal on my frame. When you don't have rolls, a gun on your waist really sticks out.
Plus, when I have to ... dig a truck out of a ditch, shovel the snow, fix a roof, work on a furnace, wire a muffler up temporarily, cut up a fallen tree, clean a chimney, climb up a ladder and lean wayyyy over to change a light bulb, etc. etc. Having a big gun clunking around is a royal pain in the side. Any gun I can carry is better than no gun and double stack guns are just too bulky for my lifestyle. Given that the majority of the time, mere presentation of the gun is all that's needed to deter a crime I'm fine with a single stack. Also knowing that the few times that people do actually pull the trigger it's virtually always less than three shots means that there's virtually no situation where I'll wish I had 6 more rounds.
That being said, I'm strongly considering switching to a small carry revolver. They're even lighter, revolvers carry a little easier because they're not "squarish" like semi-autos are, they don't need a big square grip for the ammo so the grip just kind of disappears into you as does the little snub nose. Just not sure yet. Gotta try carrying one for a little bit first.

Went through a buying spree over a couple years trying to find the 'perfect' CCW pistol... Guess what it doesnt' exist LOL.
My most carried up to this point has been a Taurus TCP .380. The 'phone' case it comes with is just so dang convenient. 6+1 .380acp in a gun small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. Hard argument for grabbing and throwing on the belt. And yeah it's a Taurus and yeah it's a Taurus .380, but mine's function without fail for 500+ rounds at the range so I trust it.
My favorite one is a M&P 9c, the only hand gun I own I have named. It's Goldilocks because it's just the right size, caliber, capacity for me.
For a Revolver the Taurus Model 85 Ultralight, a Taurus copy of the S&W J frame airweights. But I don't carry this to much anymore. IT's similar in size to the S&W M&P, but has 5 rounds compared to the S&W's 12+1

I carried the SP-101 for many years. However, when I found myself living in a city, I moved to a much higher capacity pistol. Carrying 6 rounds in a 13-20 round world is not good...... it's just a step above not having a gun at all. I carried a 1911 for decades - I no longer do that, for the exact same reason. 7-8 rounds is not much of an improvement in a 13-20rd world.
In winter I love the plastic fantastic FN FiveSeveN. It makes a great carry gun - half as light as a full loaded XD 45 - and it doubles as a varmint gun for shots to 150-200yds on coyote and wolf.
When the black bears wake up I carry the Springfield Armonry XD in 45acp.
When in brown bear country - we strap on the big Ruger Super Redhawks in 480 Ruger.
And when wearing a business suit, etc etc it's the smaller and easier to conceal Walther PPK/s.
The wife and I have paid a small fortune for his and hers Galco shoulder rigs to carry them all.

I've had numerous revolvers and pistols including Glock 19, SW 645, GP100 .357 and ppk/s .380. The PPK/S was the easiest to conceal but the one I carry most is a Firestar .40SW which offers a sub-compact with enough weight to make it manageable. The only thing I hate is you can't find better holsters for it because it's so unusual.

Springfield XDs .45 in a Sneaky Pete holster. Open concealed in a non-open carry state.

I carry a Smith 638 when I carry. It's usually loaded with +P self defense loads of some kind. I shoot it a lot though, so it's diet usually consists of lead wadcutter reloads. It's an amazing little gun. It's much more accurate and easy to shoot than you would think looking at it.
