Try and celebrate the day with her the same that your dad would have done if he was alive. She's going to be sad and that's okay, just create an atmosphere that can allow her to mourn but also celebrate the great times everybody had together.

*If they had a favorite restaurant that they would go to, try to get reservations there. If you can't afford that, maybe try cooking dinner instead at home. If you want to make it a surprise, see if you can get a girlfriend of hers to get her out of the house, maybe for a spa day or something.

*Photos/videos are a great gift as they commemorate their life together. If they have a wedding video or album/videos of you or siblings births break those out. Find some lighter ones as well like vacations or whatever.

Just light stuff like that to show her that its still a special day and that even though he's gone he's still a presence in your lives. This will make a great opportunity for you to really show her how much you love her and how much you love and miss your dad.

    Hope that helps, God bless.

Instead of trying to make her happy, treat your mother to a lovely home cooked meal, put some flowers in a vase, and surround her with love. This is what she needs right now: love and recognition that she is loved.

Try to spend time with her as much as possible and take her out of the house because being in the house most of the time is very depressing and don't leave her alone around these moments cause it's very difficult for her I'm sure .

You make her happy the same way you always did.
