Are Ted Cruz and Rand Paul going to split the Ron Paul vote? The tea party vote?

I don't think there is room for both Ted Cruz and Rand Paul to competitively compete in the 2016 Republican primary. I think most of Ted Cruz's supporters would have Rand Paul as their second pick, and most of Rand Paul's supporters would have Ted Cruz as their second pick. None of these men's supporters want the establishment to win. What shall we do?

This is of course assumes Ted Cruz no longer has his Canadian citizenship and both men run.

I partly ask because I notice Ted Cruz is trying to court Ron Paul supporters in addition to tea party supporters (yes, there is some overlap in this group, but wanted to clarify). To see Ted Cruz trying to court Ron Paul supporters, watch 7:58-8:43 of this clip.

Update:

Kevin, I don't think it is wise to paint the tea party in broad strokes. Ron Paul has even been reffered to as the father of the tea party movement.

As the primary process is an ongoing process, if one candidate is clearly lagging behind they will suspend / withdraw their campaign as the process goes on.

I used to be a Dem, however lately commenced for the reason that myself an impartial. I have transformed my get together to Rep, as a way to vote for Ron Paul. He's the fine candidate out there. Anybody who can't see what the good Doc stands for, is turning a blind I to what's fine for our nation. He received my vote, due to the fact that of two disorders which might be foremost to me. (1) The struggle in Iraq (where my 20 year historical son is at the second) & (2) unlawful immigration (where he's going to make clear the 14th modification, that means no birthright citizenship/anchor babies). Together with the countless different matters he'll bring to the desk. He is what the us & it is humans want as a way to win our nation back.

Well firstly, Ted Cruz can't run for President, he was born in Canada.

My hope is Ron Paul joins Rand's cabinet or even Vice President. Rand is good but Ron is better unfortunately he's not running again

EDIT: Charlie, nice typical liberal response, insulting and name calling. I could say the same about liar Hillary

If Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are the best the cunservatives can come up with we may as well just skip the 2016 election and let them find someone who is not clinically brain dead to offer as a candidate in 2020.

No and Cruz should be first on that ticket.

Cruz graduated CumLaude from Princeton University. While at Princeton, he competed for the American Whig-Cliosophic Society's Debate Panel and won the top speaker award at both the 1992 U.S. National Debating Championship and the 1992 North American Debating Championship. In 1992, he was named U.S. National Speaker of the Year and Team of the Year (with his debate partner, David Panton). Cruz was also a semi-finalist at the 1995 World Universities Debating Championship, making him Princeton’s highest-ranked debater at the championship. Princeton's debate team later named their annual novice championship after Cruz. While at Harvard Law School Professor Alan Dershowitz said, "Cruz was off-the-charts brilliant".

Cruz is the junior United States Senator for the state of Texas since 2013. He was Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 to May 2008, after being appointed by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott. He was the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas, the youngest Solicitor General in the United States, and the longest-serving Solicitor General in Texas' history. He was also the first Hispanic, and the first minority to be elected U.S. Senator from Texas.

Between 1999 and 2003, Cruz served as the director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the United States Department of Justice, and as Domestic Policy Advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign. In addition, Cruz was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation, from 2004 to 2009.

Cruz was the Republican nominee for the Senate seat which was vacated by fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison. On July 31, 2012, he defeated Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst in the Republican primary runoff, 57–43. Cruz defeated the Democrat, former state Representative Paul Sadler, in the general election held on November 6, 2012; he prevailed with 56–41 over Sadler. Cruz openly identifies with the Tea Party movement, and is also endorsed by the Republican Liberty Caucus.

Now why would anyone in their right mind think this man would not be qualified or intelligent enough to be President of the US. Compare his accomplishments at his young age to that of Obama's only claim to fame community organizer.

I wouldn't compare Ron Paul to tea partiers. Say what you want about Ron, but he's honest and he's consistent in his beliefs, two things I'd never say about the tea party.

Neither one of them could ever be elected president in a million years, so in a way it doesn't matter.

    I sure hope so.
