OMG I stole some ring from walmart without knowing what do I do?

So I went to walmart to get some new earings for someone but they gave them to me and I carried on shoping and completely forgot I had them in my hands. I never steal things and I had the money it was only 7 dollars but I eneded up not buying anything and since the rings had no security tag thing. the alarm didnt go off.

I have been worried about going back I'm willing to pay for it but should I even tell them? could I get in legal problems for this?

I think I would just put the earrings into a padded envelope and send it to the Walmart with a note saying that I accidentally took the earrings. Do not sign the note and do not include your address on the envelope. This will absolve you of any guilt...and you don't have to take a chance that the Customer Service person is a real goof and would call security and have you arrested.

If this happened at my local grocery store or pharmacy, I would take the earrings back in person since I know the people there and they know that I don't steal. But with Walmart, I think I would just return the earrings anonymously. Although I shop there occasionally, I do not know the people there and they do not know me. I would not risk that some goof will get me arrested.

It was a mistake. No big deal. If you go back and say something, then the possibility of legal problems will exist. But the possibility may be small. You did not mean to steal anything , you just forgot and that's that. Next time, just be sure to empty the whole cart, that's all.

Sorry, but if you mail them back they will go in the trash. They won't put them back on the floor to even re-sell. I admire good intentions, but just forget the whole thing. It was an accident and you are beating the carp out of yourself for it. Relax.

Go to customer service or the manager tell them your story and DO NOT look guilty. It depends on how nice of the Walmart you go to is so that means it's only seven dollars and you didn't know what you were doing you should not get in trouble especially if you turn them back in.

And if you send it back in an envelope, be sure to wipe your finger prints off. :) j/k

I'd just take them back and tell them you tried to pawn 'em and they weren't worth anything. So you brought them back. :) j/k again. Sorry.

I'd take them back to 'the manager', tell he/she what happened (which by the way, is just the truth...). But I don't think I'd offer to pay for them, or they'll probably think you 'did' put the arm on 'em and felt guilty later. ?

It'll be alright Bud, don't worry about it. :)

Ok...if the earrings were still in your hand how did you pay for the other stuff you shopped for...set down the earrings and count the money then pick them back up? just admit it...you stole them knowingly...your just worried they got you on camera...

Do get to worried. Its walmart. Just accept your mistake. If you go back they may not think you "accidently" stole something. It was just an accident so don't get caught up in it, just don't do it again and I think you will be alright.
