Can I put quotation marks around "I 'Heart' New York"?

For typography I'm writing about American Typewriter, but the problem is that their is no italic option for that font and I don't want to underline it because it would stand out too much. This is my sentence:

Many people masy recognize this font on the "I 'Heart' New York" logo created by Milton Glaser.

So can I use quotation marks around it? (don't worry they are not inch marks on my actual file)

or would that be grammatically incorrect?

I'm working on this in adobe illustrator btw

Update:

*may not masy

I think parentheses, "I (heart) New York" is more common.

    Half quotes is correct.
