Jehovah's Witnesses, I have question?
*[[Joh 1:1]] WEB* In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The New World Translation says that Word was "a god".
Here's my question:
If the Bible reads that there is only ONE true God, and there only two kinds of gods in the Holy Bible (true God and false god), then which is Jesus according to the above scripture?

When confronted with such a simple question, most JWs either avoid it or quote from their literature. In one example given here, the wriggling would do justice to a worm on a fishing-hook.
The bottom line is this - JWs only ascribe full deity to Jehovah God, who they say is a distinct, unique Being who created Jesus. That makes Jesus a creature. And, as all JWs know, we must not worship creatures. Not even angels are to be fallen down to (Revelation 19:10 & 22:8). And they say Jesus is an angel. Strangely, this same Jesus accepts being fallen down to in Revelation 1:17. But I must be concise.
This is why JWs refuse to give Jesus any worship. They know they would be violating the Bible, that only the one True God must be worshipped. But as they dare not imply Jesus is a false god (Isaiah 44:6-8), they only give him verbal 'deity' status. What they REALLY mean, though, is that 'god' simply means 'a mighty one'.
Well, it is only worship given to a god that makes it a god. Refrain from worshipping any god and you don't believe that deity belongs to that one. Thus, the NWT should have rendered John 1:1 as "...and the Word was a mighty one". That would have been honest. But to say "...and the Word was a god" violates scripture at every turn. Their own KIT proves this when you compare the Greek in John 1:1 with the Greek in John 1:18. I dare the JWs to get their KIT out and check. AiH

The article entitled "Those Who Are Called 'Gods" had this to say regarding John 1:1:
Yet, a person may ask, ‘In what sense is Jesus a “Mighty God,” and didn’t the apostle John say that Jesus is himself God?’ In the King James version of the Bible, John 1:1 reads: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Some argue that this means that “the Word,” who was born on earth as the baby Jesus, is Almighty God himself. Is this true?
If this verse were interpreted to mean Jesus was himself God Almighty, it would contradict the preceding statement, “the Word was with God.” Someone who is “with” another person cannot be the same as that other person. Many Bible translations thus draw a distinction, making clear that the Word was not God Almighty. For example, a sampling of Bible translations say the following: “The Word was a God,” “a god was the Word,” and “the Word was divine.”*
Bible verses that in the Greek language have a construction similar to that of John 1:1 use the expression “a god.” For example, when referring to Herod Agrippa I, the crowds shouted: ‘It is a god speaking.’ And when Paul survived a bite by a poisonous snake, the people said: “He is a god.” (Acts 12:22; 28:3-6) It is in harmony with both Greek grammar and Bible teaching to speak of the Word as, not God, but “a god.”—John 1:1.
Consider how John identified “the Word” in the first chapter of his Gospel. “The Word became flesh and resided among us,” he wrote, “and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs [not to God but] to an only-begotten son from a father.” So “the Word,” who became flesh, lived on the earth as the man Jesus and was seen by people. Therefore, he could not have been Almighty God, regarding whom John says: “No man has seen God at any time.”—John 1:14, 18.

For God to be mentioned as the "true" God does not demand that all others called `god' or `gods' are false gods. The inspired scriptures when speaking of faithful angels, prophets, God-appointed judges, kings, and magistrates clearly calls them "gods" on occasion. These are called "gods" in the sense of faithful servants of God, representing the true God.

If we should see, for example, someone being called the `true prophet', that should mean that the person so described is truly a prophet. In either case this certainly does not have to mean that all other prophets must be false. Even if it was said that this one was the "only true Prophet," we would probably consider him the only prophet in the HIGHEST of the word, but that still would not make ALL other prophets of God FALSE prophets.
So, the title "the true God" does not have to mean that there are no others who may be called "gods" or "a god" in a subordinate but righteous sense. It is, however, an exclusive title for God, the Most High, only true God, Jehovah. And clearly it refers exclusively to the Father. No one else is *THE* God or the True God. (Ps. 86:10; 2 Kings 19:19; Is. 37:16.)

If the Father is the "only true God" (John 17:3), does that mean that Jesus is a false god?

(1 Samuel 26:19) And now let my lord the king, please, listen to the words of his servant: If it is Jehovah that has incited you against me, let him smell a grain offering. But if it is the sons of man, they are cursed before Jehovah, because they have driven me out today from feeling myself attached to the inheritance of Jehovah, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods!’
(Jeremiah 11:9, 10) Furthermore, Jehovah said to me: “Conspiracy has been found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 10 They have returned to the errors of their forefathers, the first ones, who refused to obey my words, but who themselves have walked after other gods in order to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant that I concluded with their forefathers.
There are more Scriptures that talk about other gods. Didn't Egypt have their own gods?

Like Jay UU said Jesus is a false God in the their religion..
The NWT John 1:1 "a god". confirm this that Jehovah created a False God.
@Was Moses a false God ? Jehovah said to Moses "I will make you a God unto Pharaoh" Exodus 7:1
YES..
apparently THIS was WHAT been refer by Jehovah Witnesses to support that Jesus is a created lower ranking god than the father eg a FALSE GOD http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201... if you been debating with JW for a long time you would notice that ..
Ten Commandments as Jehovah's Witnesses :
"You shall have no other gods
[even though I created these other gods and I call them gods. You need to learn that I am the only one who is called God you can worship and serve. Yes there are other gods like Jesus, Angels and the devil, but you need to learn not to worship them. If you can learn this, then one day you will be a god too!]
before Me"" (Ex 20:3)

Where in the bible does it say 'there are only two kinds of gods?
Jehovah made Moses 'a god'
Exodus 7:1 Young's Literal Translation (YLT) And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `See, I have given thee a god to Pharaoh, and Aaron thy brother is thy prophet;
Did Jehovah make Moses a false god?
Jehovah made the judges of Israel gods.
Psalm 82:6 Young's Literal Translation (YLT) I -- I have said, `Gods ye [are], And sons of the Most High -- all of you,
Psalm 33:6 Young's Literal Translation (YLT) By the word of Jehovah The heavens have been made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.
Are the judges of Israel false gods?
Actually there are three types of gods in the bible.
1 the only true God ~ Jehovah
2 those called or made gods by Jehovah, who serve as his representative
Strong's G2316 - theos whatever can in any respect be likened unto God, or resemble him in any way
God's representative or viceregent of magistrates and judges
If you worship these representatives [gods] then you can turn them into 'false gods'
3. false gods example Satan is the god of this world.
It is the trinitarian who have made Jesus a false god by worshipping him.
PS I'm sorry I didn't quote from the Watchtower Society, nor did I 'side step' the question, since the question is based on a 'false premise'

Because of his high position among Jehovah’s creatures, the Word is referred to as “a god.” Here the term “god” means “mighty one.”

Greek word also translated a god also means divine. So Jesus shows divine qualities, he is god like, but not Almighty God.
