It's mostly used as a plot device, since it eventually ends up with Eddie Brock, turning him into Venom. However, I guess you could say that it symbolizes the dark side that everyone has - even Spider-Man. It doesn't make people evil, it just amplifies negative emotions, making sad sadder, and making angry angrier. So you could say it symbolizes the dark side we all have.
The black suit makes Spider-Man even stronger and more powerful than before, but it also makes him mis-use that power, taking things too far and becoming too violent and aggressive. So it also symbolizes the famous Spider-Man line "with great power, comes great responsibility"

The black Spiderman suit originated back in the 1980s in the miniseries event Secret Wars. In that series a seemingly omnipotent alien being, called the Beyonder, kidnapped a bunch of super heroes and super villains and put them on an alien world to see them fight. The world they were put on was made up of various bits and pieces of different alien worlds and the heroes found themselves living in an alien building with technology they didn't really understand. At one point, Spidermans costume was damaged and he used one of the machines to create another one for him. This new costume was black and white rather than red black and blue. It also responded to his thoughts and he could change the shape of it at will (mostly useful for quick costume changes). After the heroes were returned home at the end of Secret Wars, Spidey kept the new costume.
Some time later, it was revealed that the costume was actually a symbiotic alien organism. Spiderman abandoned the symbiote and returned to his original costume. But the symbiot ended up bonding with a man named Eddie Brock who became a villain known as Venom.

the black suit came from the 12 issue mini series marvel's secret wars. the black suit appeared in issue 8. spider-man went back to earth in the amazing spider-man issue. the suit ended up being bad & turning into the super villain venom in amazing spider-man issue 300.

The black suit later is the alien symbiote that joins with Eddie Brock to become Venom.

The black suit is this random stick crap that sticks on to someone and will take over there body and will make them a venom suit all over and use them to fight.
