Simple fix to make laptop battery work again?

I just got it back in November and the battery has already quite on me... It's only been a couple of months. Anyway, it is still under warrenty but I don't know if they would replace my battery or not.

Anyway, here's what's going on:

I plug it in, it shows it is charging for about 5 seconds and then the indicator light changes to blue saying that it is fully charged. I've done mulitple series of shutting down, unplugging the charger, taking out the battery, plugging the charger back in, turning it back on again, uninstalling complaint control and restarting. Nothing works.

I have noticed that even when the laptop is off and unplugged the blue light will still randomly turn on.

There's nothing at all wrong with my cord. If there was, I wouldn't be able to use it like I am right now.

When I do a battery test with the HP help adviser program, I get a response of

Primary Battery

The batter is reporting a failure and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. Your battery may be covered by your HP Warranty. Please contact HP.

So, anyone else had an experience like this? It is an HP laptop, touchscreen, model # 14-109 wm.

Anything else I could try before I attempt to get it replaced?

If you can get it replaced under warranty all and good, then when you get a new one put it in you laptop, give it a good 8 hour charge, this determines the battery life, like 2 - 3 years if treated right. then always charge from flat to full, this will give you the most out of a charge, you may have to sacrifice a bit of performance for battery longevity? I used a balanced power and look into your advanced power setting to get the most from you laptop battery. If HP will charge you for a replacement there are places that you can get Laptop batteries for half the price of what HP will charge and just as good. In AU I use Battery World , they do mole phone, laptop, motorbike and car batteries.

It could be the programming that controls the charging cycle is messed up. So then when it starts charging, the programming suddenly tells it it's charged up, and it's not.

Not sure how to deal with it, as HP is certaintly not a good company for good products right now. Friend bought new HP and wireless isn't working correctly. Wrong programming again.

If it's still under warranty, take it back and get full refund or new laptop. Best way to deal with it. Sorry.

You have done all you can to verify that the battery is faulty. Phone the HP support in your country and explain your problem, and they will advise you to take it to a local service centre to check it out thoroughly. It should be covered under warranty.
