How long will it be until gun freaks start saying that the shootings near UCSB Friday never happened?

The AM radio honks should be right at it bright and early Tuesday.

The Conservative bloggers should be at it anytime now.

I do not know of any gun advocates who deny that shootings take place. On the contrary.

The tragedy in the latest California massacre, as with a lot of others, is that it could have been prevented if the law would allow a mentally ill person to be hospitalized against his will, if he is a danger to himself or others, and if he is too irrational to accept treatment willingly. This man's parents tried to prevent this, but police felt they could do nothing.

As the law now stands, mentally ill people are treated like criminals, and are not detained until AFTER they have committed a serious offense. Too late.

If this man had been detained BEFORE the fact, 7 people would still be alive, and he would have a chance at a more normal life.

You know what I hear when you say that? A horn sound, like in "Peanuts," except with onscreen translations.

Blo blah bleh ("None of you should have them, even if youre up against Ku kluxers, gay bashers, doctor-shooting antiabortion nuts, or crooked cops. Trust the rich's police to protect you, and if you wont, YOU are the threat")

Blee blah blo ("I dont care if its bad policy, the idea makes me FEEL better and thats whats important")

Guns are banned in the UK. Guess what... our serious criminals have guns regardless. However without a gun culture there are much fewer guns on the street to be used in random shootings. There is just no way you can stop crazy people though; death penalty has zero effect on them too.

Let me correct you.

1. Gun freaks are not the ones pointing out the fake shootings.

2. 90% of the 'shootings' you saw on TV were not real.

3. The shooting yesterday was legitimate.

It's always the same guy. A loner with problems that the authorities know about but as no crime has been committed until it is there's nothing they can do. California already has all the 'tough' gun laws you can imagine, so there's no place to go with that unless you actually go to confiscation... which will only promote a black market.

We need to do something about the mentally ill people that do these kind of things, and do something about the drug and street gangs that do 90% of all shootings...even if they actually only shoot each other.

Guns are already illegal in Mexico and Chicago, go there if you want to go to one of your dreamed "gun free havens". Guns are a tool capable of killing people, like knives, cars, and chemicals. The second amendment protects us from a tyrannical government. If you think our government turning on us is impossible look back at Nazi Germany. If you're afraid of guns and just can't stand them, and would rather be beaten or knifed to death if you're assaulted, go to Europe.

The UN needs to have more authority than it does. Maybe then, the UN could pass a low stating that all countries must offer amnesty to any criminals who will turn in their guns to their nation's govt within 30 days. If they'd do this, then perhaps all guns would be off the streets of every country within one month.

You will NEVER get the guns away from the honest citizens. I hope this irks you forever.and that you STEW the rest of your life in frustration. Your idea of getting rid of guns will do NOTHING except make things 10 times worse, just like ALL liberal solutions.

Why don't you crusade to ban high power cars that kill people? You don't think they're manufactured to kill? Think again and in the word of your Hillary, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THAT MAKE. You see pics of the children laying dead and you will do NOTHING to ban the cars that kill them. The same with household poisons and swimming pools.
