soon to be kitten owner, really confused! advice appreciated.?
I will be getting a kitten after June 21st. I will have to keep it in my room until it's a little older seeing as we have two big dogs. It will be about 8 weeks old when I receive it. I have no idea how to get a kitten to use a litter box. Any advice on this is graciously accepted. What types of food should I feed it? Everyone has their own opinions. But in general, is wet food better, or dry food? Health benefits? Should I allow it to chew and jump on things? Any tips concerning introducing the kitten to my two weimeraners would be great too.

I would not recommend keeping it separated from your dogs too long because it's when the kitten is young that it can bond with other animals. It really depends on what you would like to feed it because both dry and wet food are okay for it. I find that cats prefer wet food but it smells worse. You should put lots of toys out to prevent too much chewing but there is really no way to prevent it from jumping on things. For the litter box, you should just it out and the kitten will actually prefer that to the ground. Introduce the dogs slowly, first through a gate, then in your lap amd eventually they won't even mind each other. Weimeraners are typically hyper so just take your time introducing and monitor interactions until you are sure they are okay witg each other. Hope this helps and good luck!

Weimaraners were bred to hunt FUR as well as feather. Many are cat killers. I do NOT, repeat most emphatically do NOT recommend adding a kitten to a home with two Weimaraners, under ANY housing circumstances.

If these dogs have killed kittens before, they are going to do it again. While I understand your desire to have a kitten, how fair is it to the kitten to have it torn apart by the dogs? Don't bring a kitten or cat into your home until the dogs pass away.
