How long does criminal compensation take to come through?

My husband was attacked last year and had his mobile phone stolen. The man responsible is now locked up (for a very long time too!) and today we put in the claim for compensation but we really have no idea how long it takes. My husband only spent one night in hospital for head injuries and needed stitches and bed rest once he was allowed back home so it is quite a straightforward application and we have given all the details they need-police and hospital details, etc. Any rough ideas? Thank you in advance :)

Criminal compensation takes entirely too long through defunct civil proceedings, in my opinion.

Months. My son had to undergo more medical reports,, it took nearly a year. You wont get thousands there is now a set list, so don't be planning an expensive holiday.

Who are you making the claim to - if it is the Criminal Injuries Compensation scheme you are unlikely to meet the qualifying standard - the injuries are too minor, and have had no longer term effect.

A claim against the offender should have been made during the course of the trial - and you would only get anything if the court ordered it. Then you would get it when the offender paid it to the court.

If you are claiming through personal injury insurance - I would need to read the terms of your policy.
