Does anyone understand my frustration with what I call "country club" Christianity...serious answers only, please.?

Update:

Thnx for letting me "vent" re people who use church as social clubs, donating enough money to have a "hall" named after them (one huge donator had his car business ads "flashed" on the front screen altar), and some professional people cringing at sitting next to someone obviously not on a "who's who" list. I've seen it and, not wanting to offend a friend, I recently was shocked at a pastor-in-training belief he could "help" people by flying them around in jets, buying expensive equipment for his studio for broadcasting...see more below

We can't judge others but I think I know what you mean--because another answered it those who just use their religion to socialize.

I guess a lot of people go to church to gain social status or to find friends. But I hope they would see that being that way is hypocrisy and will change their ways. Jesus spoke of those kinds of people and he called it "a show" or pretense and he condemned such practices.

I understand exactly what you're saying, I think that the "country club" syndrome is deffinately something that Christians need to be careful not to get into. Forming little 'clicks' in the churches, where it is hard for new people to feel a part of the church family. We as Christians must include everyone in our churches, encourage new people to join small groups, include new people to serve as ushers, greeters, etc. Encourage people be involved in all aspects of activities and fellowship in the church. " Jesus said, " My command is this, love each other as I have loved you." [John 15:12 NIV] this command, we should all be obedient too in our dealings with all people, especially in the church.

why worry when they don't have a heaven or hell to place you in,mind ur own business or is u just jealous. seek out ur own soul salvation to make sure you is on the right track.Pointing out that these people are difficult and demanding won't get you anywhere, The headaches you save will be your own. Decide now to quit banging your head against a brick wall. if you accept responsibility for your own faults and resolve to improve yourself, it's probably not you. Remember, impossible people "can do no wrong."God doesn ot need our help or aid in any circumstances.I found ur nose,it was in someone else business again.its alwaysbes t not to feel other folk frustations, life is short as is,free selfand have some quality time with self. The essential question is not, “How busy are you?” but “What are you busy at?”

Never explain. Your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe it anyway.Keep your nose out of another’s mess.

What is "country-club Christianity?" Is that the "vision-casting," God-wants-you-to-be-happy-and-rich, if-you're-sick-you-lack-faith, ask-and-you'll-receive-material-blessings, plant-a-financial-seed-in-my-ministry, discussing-sin-might-hurt-self-esteems, everyone-goes-to-heaven, self-help "Christianity?" If so, I totally agree with you about being frustrated with it. It's complete nonsense, but people love to have their ears tickled (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

I assume you mean those who claim to be Christian, simply for the social benefits. If that is the case, than yes, I can understand your frustration. I'm an atheist, but it makes sense that a believing Christian would be offended by fakers.

Why can't we get back to basics? Feeding, clothing, sheltering, educating...

That was my 'beef' for the day...

    Have a great weekend everyone.

We can't understand it if you don't define what exactly "country club Christianity" is.

What is wrong with all religion is NOT religion itself.....but what man does with religion....how he corrupts and misuses it..... we all have false prophets.....and "country club " believers....people more interested in vanity and impressing others than the actual tenants of their faith

Yes but we really shouldn't be surprised. God isn't. And he tells us in his word that this is to be expected.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

The Greek word for "spue" is "emeo" which means to vomit

No, I don't understand what that is, therefore I do not understand your frustration with it.
