leave the skin on or take it off?

I cut my thumb pretty bad cutting potatos. I've been washing the cut and putting neosporin and a bandaid on every day. I don't know if I should leave the skin or take it off. Help?

Leave it on. Tape it down, it is better than a band-aid.
