Can you make baked ziti with pasta other than ziti? Say penne or cellentani?

And can you mix them?

The only pastas that do not interchange well are egg noodles with other pasta.

My husband regularly uses fettucini instead of spaghetti for his marinara sauce, and I make any pasta dish using whatever pasta we have on hand.

The advantage of ziti is that it is a large pasta, and baked ziti recipes usually involve a lot of cheese .. cheese is heavy, and a larger pasta holds up better under the literal weight of melted cheese. It will all taste the same in your mouth once you start chewing.

when I make a pasta dish for family, I don't eat pastas, I use whatever is on hand in the pantry! Been There is wrong! you can use ANY pasta including egg noodles in any cheese dish!

In making pasta dough, you mix eggs with flour and shape it to suit your purposes! So there is NO differences in type of pasta product!

Absolutely. I prefer masticolli (sp?) Or penne since the ridges seem to hold the sauce and cheese better.

No, but you can use the same filling and sauce with other pasta.
