Should I join the military or law enforcement?
Hello everyone! This question has been bothering me ever since. I have been researching about jobs in the law enforcement and military; I planned to join the military as an officer.
The thing is I plan to go to college and earn a bachelor's degree. That way, I can enroll an officer. The problem comes down to the ROTC Program. My college doesn't offer it. With that in mind, I can't become a military officer without taking that course, at least I believe.
That leaves me into the law enforcement subject. With a bachelor's in law enforcement, I can become an FBI Agent, my second job choice of interest. I'm fine with that job too, but I would like being an officer best.
My question is if it's possible to become a military officer after college? Or, if possible, maybe an officer program outside of college? I want to maximize my opportunities with my planned degree, and some answers would be truly helpful. Thanks!

if your active duty after two years you can apply to become an officer and they will pay for it. its best if you just finish your degree then apply to what you want. there are age limits for the military so research that. you will definitely get experience in the military but you may end up doing something you don't want to be doing. I was in the air force for 5 years and retrained once during my time, if you are motivated to make a change they will support it but you have to push it or nothing happens, also you have to get good scores on their tests. some of the MP's could apply to become an investigator that might be a path for you. cant you just apply to officer school/academy and not do ROTC? as an officer you will make more money than active duty, but if you decide to do active duty and you have a degree you will start with higher rank. either way get a degree. good luck.

You should try to do whatever you want to do most. Consider doing both. After college, you could try to become an officer in the military, and later try to become a law enforcement officer. Many law enforcement officers have been in the military. Many law enforcement officers are also in the guard or reserves. You could go to college for 4 years, join the military, retire from the military, and still be young enough to become a law enforcement officer with some agencies. Being a veteran can help you get law enforcement officer jobs. Veterans get extra points on civil service tests and preference for federal jobs. Some agencies that require applicants to have college will waive some or all of their college requirements for veterans. Although that won't matter if you already have a 4 year degree. Also, for different reasons, some people simply like to hire qualified veterans whenever they get the chance to. It is great that you plan on getting a college degree. Getting a college degree is one of the best things that you can do. Make the most of your time in college. Get the highest grade point average that you can, participate in a couple extracurricular activities, get a good internship, do some regular volunteer work, don't do anything illegal, and maintain a good reputation. Best of luck!
