7 months ago i twisted my left knee while almost running in an awkward position in a fall while wearing a hiking backpack.?

i feel i still can't straighten my leg fully with a funny feel around my knee. (although at the time when i fell it was as if my knee gave way and i felt extreme pain and was unable to walk - straighten my leg for almost an hour or so.) is my knee perhaps permanently damaged or is it just a muscle-ligament issue? Please help.

Update:

i can walk and run almost normally now though, although i still feel that my knee can't take too much stress or weight.

I think you should take some supplements that are anti-inflammatory. Fish oil,oil of oregano, olive leaf extract, curcumin and coconut oil are all anti-inflammatory. Another couple supplements that could aid in your healing are, glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, and boswellia. I may have spelled them incorrectly. These supplements will strengthen your cartilage. If you are able to function normally, walk, sit, without pain, then it's time to move your knee and see what your limits are. I don't want you to twist your knee, just bend, straighten , see how it responds with and without your body weight. If it is only mildly to moderately painful, you can implement some movement exercises. Bending the knee, flexing the foot and toes, straightening the leg. If it just seems a little tight , you should be able to work it back into a normal pain free state. If it feels like it's tearing, you should be examined. If you can't see a Doctor and even if you can, those supplements will really help you. Since you have had this injury, your knee may be less stable than it used to be. You should take notice with your activities and keep it from too much weight and twisting. You should also keep off it on the floor, don't use it as a foot, that isn't good for anyone. If you get it all worked out, you may then want to do a little strength training to prevent future injury. Do your best. See how your body responds. Don't push it too far. Best of luck and health to you. From Kathleen in Vegas
