This is a tough one because it is hard to put a time limit to it. Obviously you do not want to wait forever, but you also do not want to put on too much pressure. The best thing to do is periodically have serious conversations about where your relationship currently is and where you BOTH see it going in the future. Make your decisions based on the feedback you get from your partner. Often, guys are in love or love their significant other, but are not ready to commit to marriage that does not mean he does not want to marry you. You just need to see where his head is, it is ok to let him know you are ready to spend the rest of your life with him that way he can not say he did not know.

There's no set time. Just whenever you're ready. By ready, I meant financially stable, have a stable roof over your head, insurance and so forth.

If you are scared of rejection, bring up the topic of marriage in a joking way to get your partners reaction.

But I'd say at least 5 years, since most relationships are rushed these days.
