Yes, mainstream religion (the vast majority) appears not to have a problem with science at all - although that wasn't always the case. They have basically had to be dragged, kicking and screaming into the 21st century, and there are a few denominations still lingering closer to the 19th century.

As a matter of fact, in my native country, (Norway), most of the people who identify as Christians, (there aren't really all that many of them, but they do still exist), ALSO accept evolution. I was a Christian myself for a short while, (about 1.5 years, from the age of 15 to late 16), and I still agreed with evolution. So did most of the people I went to church with, as far as I'm aware. I also have ONE friend who is a very extreme Christian, (sweet girl, and very accepting, but excessively committed to her religion), who is a creationist. But.. she's the only one I know, and definitely a major exception to the rule. :)

..That's just MY country and MY experience with it, though. I know this is generally not how things work over in the US. But.. It should still be possible for religious people to be creationists, yet not get offended by the very idea of evolution. And it should still be possible for non-religious people to accept that some people are indeed creationists. Although, I don't think it should be taught in science class. Teach evolution in science class, and creation stories in religion class. Because really, that's where they belong. :)

There are many, many Christians and people of other religions who accept the theory of evolution as being substantially accurate. It's not a problem, really. The only problem for Christians comes when we try to take the figurative and mystical/mythical stories in the Bible as literal history. I used to try to do that, and it's frankly silly. These stories were meant to convey truth, just as CS Lewis' fantasy fiction is meant to convey truth. They tell the truth far better by myth-making (to people who understand what that's all about) than they could by volumes and volumes of difficult-to-follow systematic theology.

Actually they exist now, but I doubt whether they will ever agree in principle. There is no reason why both could not exist, but religion has gone through so many alterations and additional mystical theories, that the possibility or such an agreement is now beyond any possibility.

Evolution is about scientific fact, whereas religion relies on folk lore originally formulated for a primitive peasant society. How can factual knowledge ever get into bed with folk lore that places its knowledge on miracles, magic, and ancient beliefs that no one can in all honesty believe, or is even willing and openminded enough to discuss.

Supposedly, at some point a bacteria-like, self-replicating organism arose, gradually branching out into all the species that exist today. This would imply that ultimately the mind-bogglingly complex human actually evolved from bacteria.

The theory of evolution is also embraced by many who claim to accept the Bible as the word of God. They believe that God produced the first burst of life on earth but then simply monitored, and perhaps steered, the process of evolution. That, however, is not what the Bible says.

in high school i thought there could be some compromise or some agreement in science.

however 30 years later i realize that there cannot be a compromise. evolution is an invention of liars and devil worshipers, the facts are contrived and manipulated and the facts that are true are not taught. many creationists understand this, and when they are very competent they often lose their jobs in universities. i know a man that says he would rather pass the class to agree with the teacher rather than say the truth, just to graduate. ive heard other scientists that know there are many flaws in archeology and fraud in science too, but they keep silent for a pay check. i have actually heard the testimony of a peer reviewer, who says he lied and rejected creationists just to keep the angenda of the evolution ongoing.

Michael Cremo, is famous for his book forbidden archeology. although he is not a christian, he beleives the earth is very old.

i believe the book of Genesis plainly says God created Man from the dust. when God and Jesus arrived at this planet it is written that it was without form and void. i think this means there was not continents and there was no life found on the planet. the geneaology of Adam and mankind is about 6000 years old, or about 250 years from being 6000 depending on one of two calendars. in jewish tradition. the prophetess Hellen White says dinosours were a science invention of mankind..

i doubt that viable tissue can be found in 155 million year old bones. but what really changes my mind is that i know there is a God by having seen a 3 visions of Jesus. and i had received a visitation from an angelic like personage.

if the book of genesis is preserved as much as it is, correctly, it says that our first mother was not evolved but was formed from Adams rib. it describes a medical process, putting Adam to sleep, and creating a woman from a Bone. in evolution this absolutely does not happen. it looks more like a genetic and DNA process, and manipulated, it looks something greater than just a cloning process.

science has laws that are mandated. but the creator who makes the laws of the universe probably also knows how to bend them. our sphere of life has rules by science that men say cannot be broken. which is a lie by itself. God existed before the firmament of heaven, thereby pre existing our Time line, scientists get this wrong and say the opposite is true. while some science is pure, the interpretations of some scientists are complete heresy. archeologists have been getting it wrong for 4000 years,

Yeah, I'm agnostic pantheist which means I call the universe God because it's eternal and created us, whether it meant to or not. However that means Christianity is nonsense to varying degrees.

Religion is just an early attempt at explaining evolution of body mind and soul , science will explain soul soon , string theory already give us possible energies , once a scientific soul is added to evolution we may start to move on as a species.

The concept of evolving does coincide with the Bible, but not in the way most people would think. Before Adam sinned, at the time he was perfect and would never had died at all if he wouldn't have eaten of the forbidden fruit.(Gen.2:15-17) However, thanks to his disobedience, sin (a.k.a. imperfection) was introduced to the human race, as well as death.(Rom.5:12) This event led to humanity devolving from their perfect state. However, thanks to Christ dying for our sins, we'll be given a chance to evolve back to our perfect state in the future, as long as one exercises faith in the ransom. (John 3:16, John 17:3)
