Vegetarians - They don't eat animal flesh. They may or may not eat different kinds of animal products like milk, eggs, etc.. Vegetarians who uses both milk and egg are called ovo-lacto vegetarians, only egg ovo and only milk lacto vegetarians.

Vegans- They won't eat anything that is obtained from animals. That includes meat, fish, egg, milk, honey, etc..

All vegans are vegetarians, but not all vegetarians are vegans. :)

    Source(s): Vegan.

The word vegetarian is limited to a person's diet. There are several different types of semi-vegetarians who don't eat animal products except for (fill in the blank). A strict vegetarian does not eat any animal products. Although honey is sometimes considered ok.

Veganism is a lifestyle. For some its almost a religion. A vegan eats a strictly vegetarian diet. Many of them even avoid things like medicine capsules because the gelatin may have been made from pigs. They also live a lifestyle that attempts to reduce the amount of animal cruelty in the world. They will avoid products that have been tested on animals. They will not go to circuses. They avoid products that incorporate leather or wool.

Vegetarians do not eat animal flesh (meat). This means chicken, beef, pork, fish, ham etc. Vegans do not eat any products that come from animals including meat, dairy, eggs, cheese etc. Usually both choose not to buy leather.
