What could be wrong with my dog?

I have a male Chihuahua. Around last week, he tried "hooking up" with our neighbors male kitten/cat we're unsure of the age but that doesnt matter. The cat is known to be an outdoor cat only staying in his house at early in the day. My dog who hasn't had fleas and/or ticks in about a year suddenly showed up with fleas. We found out a day after discovering he has fleas that my neighbors cat has fleas. And today as i was trimming fur around his underbelly getting him ready for a flea bath, i've noticed that the skin on his sheath is a lot darker than normal and it seems as if he has small amounts of white discharge. He keeps licking at it from time to time as well and he seems to be isolating himself a bit. Could he be sick? Could the coloration and discharge be caused from fleas biting him or his encounter with the cat? Any other problems this might be?

Update:

The cat may have also bitten him in that area and the skin has a purple-ish color.

    1. Keep your dog on a leash when he's outside.

    2. Dogs do not "hook up" with cats. He may have mounted the cat but I can guarantee he didn't penetrate a cat. Male or female.

    3. You need to treat both your dog and your home for the fleas.

    4. He obviously needs to see a vet regarding the color and discharge you are noticing.

Some dogs can experience slight changes in pigmentation as they mature. But there are also a number of health issues and genetic conditions that can cause changes in pigmentation such as hypothyroidism, Cushing's disease, skin cancers, hormonal imbalances, infections, AND irritation caused by parasites. You say your dog has fleas - so it is possible that is the cause. But you won't know that unless you take him to the vet. He should be able to diagnose the problem and treat it.

  • Puppy hooked into him but could not come out because the dog tried to breed with the wrong kind of animal. Puppy was angered by this and caused a terrible snap inside him to remind him to go with his own kind. Fleas are the legacy of his hound of a father and come from outside the home. You will have to breed him with a female of his kind to get Puppy out of him.

    1. It would be next to impossible for him to 'hook up' with a cat, if by this you mean mounting leading on to penetration.

    2. Cat fleas can infest dogs so he needs treatment, and preventative treatment too. And perhaps your home will need 'bombing'.

    3. He may well have an infection going on - try this link for information... http://www.petplace.com/dogs/preputial-discharge-l...
