  • Advice needed! Please read! What should I do?

I lost contact with my longtime friend. WE haven't spoken in 2 years and hasn't seen each other in 3. He deleted all of his social media accounts, moved even farther away, and doesn't have the same phone number. I found a relative of his and even though she doesnt know who I am, I sent her a message on facebook, but I'm pretty sure it went to her message request box because we're not friends on facebook and she probably won't ever see it. I was thinking of trying to send a message to his sister, but she got married and doesn't have the same last name listed on her facebook. I don't think she would remember who I am and I thought it would be even weirder if I sent her a message. I'm not sure what I should do and I really miss my friend. What should or what can I do?

  • Has anyone had this problem with their dog?

So yesterday morning, my dog was experiencing some strange symptoms. He was hiding underneath the bed and wouldn't come out. When I finally got him to, I felt him shaking and his belly was really hard. I took him to the vet and she suspected that he had pancreatitis and suggested he spend the 24 hours in the hospital with some IV fluids and pain medication. I kept calling every few hours to check up on him, the techs kept saying that he was doing very well. I got a call from the doctor this afternoon saying that his belly seemed to be feeling better and that he was good to go home. When he came home, he is just not himself. He doesn't want any of his toys, he still doesn't want to eat, he's not even mooching for table scraps. It's almost like he doesn't know who I am. Anyone who had to have their dog spend the night in the hospital, have they acted like this? How long until he should return to normal?

  • What's wrong with my laptop?

I've owned my laptop for a while (about 10 months) and up until yesterday it would allow me to charge it while it was running. Now when I plug it it while it's running, It'll show that it's charging for a split second and then it won't do anything and it'll only charge when it's completely shut off.

  • Question about elliptical trainers?

I just purchased an elliptical because I want to lose weight and I can't make it to a gym as often as I like. I was wondering just how many calories exercising on the elliptical burn. I usually calculate my activities on the calculator on Health Status, but I'm not sure if it's accurate and I read that machines at the gym aren't completely accurate either. I also know that there are a lot of factors like how long you've been on the machine, what pace and resistance are you using and distance as well as your body weight, age, and gender. Is Health Status' calculator accurate? How can I accurately tell how many calories I can burn?

  • Chapter one and introducing the main character?

Would the first chapter of a book would be better to introduce the character as well as their history? Or should it be weaved in over the course of the book?

  • Which way of telling a story do you think is better?

Telling the story as the events are happening or the character thinking back and telling the readers what happened? I'm leaning more towards the character thinking back. I just feel a lot more detail could be added there as well as events that are important more to the character than the book.

  • Subplots and sensory details?

So I asked on here yesterday what would be considered a "filler" in a novel. What I call "fillers" are unnecessary information authors put in their stories and something I'm desperately trying to avoid because I have hopes to write something to be proud of.

Now, sensory details. I learned in school that they are important to the novel just like it is important to "show" rather than "tell" what the character is doing/seeing/feeling... I have been told by many people that I have a very sharp eye for details and other sensory details: what the character is seeing, feeling, smelling, hearing and tasting. Since I think that I go overboard with detail, I'm afraid that they can be considered fillers.

And subplots. The book I am writing could be considered a drama. And what I know from drama is that many things are going on that builds the story. But many of the subplots are developing my main character and I already planned for them to be different in some way as the story progresses. Again thank you for helping.

  • "Fillers" in novels.?

Okay, so, I'm writing a novel. I know that the chances of it getting anywhere can be slim but I have a question about the possible "fillers" people put in them.

A little note: I've tried googling this question but every site I've tried calls them something different, I call them fillers, or unnecessary information that writers add to "pad" the book.

I've noticed that some much talked about books that I've read seem to have a whole lot of unnecessary info in them. Maybe the author sees it in a different way.

Would flashbacks to help explain the story line better be considered fillers? What about dialogue that does the same thing? Or information a character tells about themselves to build the character?

Are these considered fillers? If they are or aren't please explain to help me understand better. Thanks

  • What could be wrong with my dog?

I have a male Chihuahua. Around last week, he tried "hooking up" with our neighbors male kitten/cat we're unsure of the age but that doesnt matter. The cat is known to be an outdoor cat only staying in his house at early in the day. My dog who hasn't had fleas and/or ticks in about a year suddenly showed up with fleas. We found out a day after discovering he has fleas that my neighbors cat has fleas. And today as i was trimming fur around his underbelly getting him ready for a flea bath, i've noticed that the skin on his sheath is a lot darker than normal and it seems as if he has small amounts of white discharge. He keeps licking at it from time to time as well and he seems to be isolating himself a bit. Could he be sick? Could the coloration and discharge be caused from fleas biting him or his encounter with the cat? Any other problems this might be?

  • Whats this story called?

When i was in 9th grade i read a story about an older woman who killed her husband (i think) because something about he killed her bird...? And they found evidence of premeditated murder by how she knitted a quilt and two female investigators kept fixing things that were wrong in the house (basically tampering with evidence). • What's up with my laptop?

First off i want to say when what im about to say happend there were only two internet site tabs open- a blank google screen and yahoo answers. Another thing was my sound was off- i mean at 0% OFF. after a while of watching t.v trying to remember what i was going to search, i heard a gunshot and what sounded like a man panting. i picked up my laptop and heard the sound definatley coming from it. Eventually i heard the man-sounding out of breath- saying part of the "Our Father" before hearing a few more gunshots. terrified, i shut the laptop off and about ten minutes ago heard the same thing. I called in my mum and she heard something completely different from me. i'm trying to figure out what happend with my laptop and why.

another thing is this isnt a "Troll" post. Also please don't answer if your not serious
