Kitten making crunching/grinding sounds throughout the day?
I have a 4 mo. old kitten, who out of the blue, starting making these crunching/grinding sounds with her mouth. I notice it especially when she gets up to stretch after sleeping, but she makes them throughout the day.
I looked at her gums to see if there was something dental but her gums are pink and i poked her teeth to see if the sound is from her loose teeth, but they're fine as well.
She has lost 2 of her baby teeth since the sound started but it's still there.
She is eating normally, and playful. I just wish I knew how to stop that sound because it's such a painful sound! It sounds like when you bite down on something hard, and you think you cracked your tooth but it was just food breaking.
Has anyone had similar experiences?

Kittens start getting their adult teeth when they're around 4 months old. Usually they bite down hard on household items in an attempt to relieve the pain, but some will grind their teeth. It's also thought that this may be help loosen the baby teeth from the socket.
If you think she may be feeling discomfort, take a clean face cloth, knot it, dampen with water and put in the freezer to chill. Having something hard and cold to bite on will help relieve the pain of inflamed gums.
