how to connect a DC amp meter?

    Treat it like a wire - it goes in series in the circuit.

    A shunt is something that allows current to bypass and go around a point in the circuit, rather than through it. Has nothing to do with your application.

    I have UPS , i want to know how much current (Amps) are supllied to batteries (24 V, 2 batteries), what is shunt? can i connect amp meter directly in series without using shunt? what is shunt for?
