What is the correct etiquette when a guest brings a bottle of wine to your dinner party?

    It is proper to open that bottle of wine and serve it, unless it is a type of wine that will not go with your dinner or your wine is chilled and the guest's bottle is not. You can put it in the fridge and open after the first bottle or bottles of wine are finished.

    Say thank you. You are under no obligation to serve it with dinner, especially if it would not complement the food you are serving.

    You thank them first and then you serve the wine with the meal .
