What's the difference between bargain and "high-quality" clay litter?
I use Fresh Step Non-clumping litter, and I have no complaints. Except the price. I scoop the litter daily (I only have one cat), and dump the litter entirely and wash the box every 4-5 days. I was wondering, beside the scent that I know Fresh Step adds, what could the difference possibly be?

What you are using is just fine. What you are doing is obsessive. It isn't necessary to change the litter or wash out the litter pan except for once a month or maybe even more. If the cat has diarrhea and gets the sides dirty use a good cleaner and wipe the sides down. I've pasted in a link that gives the best litterbox info I've ever read. Read the part about keeping the litter deeper than normal. It works.
