There are cult groups (Jehovah's Witnesses, The Way International, Christadelphians, etc.) who deny the Trinity and state that the doctrine was not mentioned until the 4th Century until after the time of the Council of Nicea (325). This council "was called by Emperor Constantine to deal with the error of Arianism [see page 45] which was threatening the unity of the Christian Church."

The following quotes show that the doctrine of the Trinity was indeed alive-and-well before the Council of Nicea:

Polycarp (70-155/160). Bishop of Smyrna. Disciple of John the Apostle.

"O Lord God almighty . . . I bless you and glorify you through the eternal and heavenly high priest Jesus Christ, your beloved Son, through whom be glory to you, with Him and the Holy Spirit, both now and forever" (n. 14, ed. Funk; PG 5.1040).

Justin Martyr (100?-165?). He was a Christian apologist and martyr.

"For, in the name of God, the Father and Lord of the universe, and of our Savior Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit, they then receive the washing with water" (First Apol., LXI).

Ignatius of Antioch (died 98/117). Bishop of Antioch. He wrote much in defense of Christianity.

"In Christ Jesus our Lord, by whom and with whom be glory and power to the Father with the Holy Spirit for ever" (n. 7; PG 5.988).

"We have also as a Physician the Lord our God Jesus the Christ the only-begotten Son and Word, before time began, but who afterwards became also man, of Mary the virgin. For ‘the Word was made flesh.' Being incorporeal, He was in the body; being impassible, He was in a passable body; being immortal, He was in a mortal body; being life, He became subject to corruption, that He might free our souls from death and corruption, and heal them, and might restore them to health, when they were diseased with ungodliness and wicked lusts." (Alexander Roberts and James Donaldson, eds., The ante-Nicene Fathers, Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1975 rpt., Vol. 1, p. 52, Ephesians 7.)

Irenaeus (115-190). As a boy he listened to Polycarp, the disciple of John. He became Bishop of Lyons.

Those that are Non-Christians support Non-Christian beliefs so naturally they want to attach Christians that believe in the Holy Trinity to the Pagan god trinities which is blasphemous.

As for Pagan god trinities the are always three gods this is very different from the Holy Trinity in which there is one God even though He is three Divine Persons.

Neo-Paganism such as Dianic Wicca copied the concept of the Holy Trinity from Christianity but not entirely in which the goddess Diana is three aspects rather than persons as the maiden, mother, and crone. Wicca as well as other forms of Neo-Paganism are repetitively new movements Wicca itself dates back to the 1950's which was founded by Gerald Gardner. In earlier times since the Middle Ages when a person was accused of being a witch or practicing witchcraft from Christianity it was the same as being accused of being a Satanist or practicing Satanism.

But I have learned the people of this generation are ignorant so they don't bother doing the research themselves rather they take what others tell them as face value.

Here's a link to the question I assume you're referring to:

    /question/index?qid=20141...

Since the only "question" in this thread is about why your answer didn't post over there, I'll give you some advice:

    (1) Wait a while. Y!A can be glitchy and maybe the problem will resolve itself after a few minutes.

    (2) Try refreshing the page in your web browser once or twice. Again, Y!A can be glitchy, but it may work once you've refreshed it.

    (3) Try a different Web browser. Google Chrome usually works for me, but I've had problems posting answers using the Opera browser.

No, at least not in the way antichrist cults want you to believe. There have been triads of deities in other religions, some (not all) triads however are merely (by imagination or not) posed by cult members, like Osiris Isis & Horus, or Anu Ea & Enlil, but there is no parallel beyond the number "3". There may also be talk of gods like Amun Ra & Ptah as the same god, but you must then understand that there was no sole religion in Egypt, rather many and as time passed on some were lumped together as one, particularly if they were major deities. I should note, before anyone points out Atenism, the monotheistic cult of the Aten was going to be the one sole religion in Egypt, but it really never was a successful religion. Back to this lumping of many gods together, such is the case of Hinduism, which did not simply begin with the belief in One God who is many into the millions, rather their were many many gods at first worshiped by many different groups, but then they came together in agreement that they worship the same thing. This is by far not parallel in anyway meaningful way with the Trinity. Also it should be noted, in case you see from others, "Puranas dating to 3,000 years ago," such is a lie, Hindu texts appear much later than that, the oldest being the Vedas from 1,500-500 BCE, as for the Puranas they date between 3rd-16th century CE, as far back as 1st-2nd century at best if you'd like a margin of possibility.

Over the past 10,000 years or so, there have been thousands of variations on the trinity, so likely some pagan concept was similar to a modern variation. Christian trinity started about 1800 years ago, as near as we can tell.

if you see the blue square asking questions that is a troll on all sites who has called themselves God, in labour with 6 children with husband pregnant as well, christian and muslim. when you see the one you tried to reply to, that is the same troll answering their own questions. they get fun from winding people up.

  • Yes, the Catholic Church started the trinitarian belief to try and convert pagans just like all the other pagan beliefs they annexed.
