Feel free to apply. Odds are You'll be wasting Your time but since You have nothing better to do with Your time anyway's?. In Canada once You have a record You become ineligible for most Government , Police , Transportation , and many other jobs for the rest of Your working life. Just because You served Your sentence and were released does not mean You still don't have a record.Should have thought about this before You committed the crime.

Lets put it this way. Last year Dorset police opened recruitment. They had 1000 application for 33 vacancies.
Do you honestly think they would take anyone with a Criminal Record ??
You have no chance once they do a background check.
