Mothers death?

Well my friends mom died last year today and she remembered her and got really sad. I don't know her in real so I have to text her. What can I say to her over text that will help her? I want her to know I really care but I don't want to make her feel like I'm crowding her and I don't want her sad. Any help?

Actually, I think the best thing might be to let her feel sad right now. The death is still very recent, and even in 20 years she will still feel the pain of losing her mother every now and then, maybe more so on the anniversary of it happening, her mother's birthday, even mother's day or holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. Instead of trying to suppress these feelings by trying to cheer up and get happy, it is healthy to let them out. Let her know you are were thinking about her today and that you are there if she wants to talk, that's what I would do. I hope this helps, you're a good friend.

Ok. Here's the deal-she is really sad now but she just needs friends to help her.
