Any suggestions for keeping a very active child amused and "still" for the next few days?
My 4 year old had an accident on a play structure that required stitches on his forehead. It has been undertaking to get him to cooperate with the healing process :)
He's bored of snuggling and reading, and bored of tv. Any tips for keeping an active kid calmly entertained? No running around or play at his usual level of activity.

bathtub or other water play? can't be too active in there but there's still plenty of opportunity to splash around. baking together; reading together; making a blanket fort and setting him up in there with supplies; pulling out art supplies or legos; simple board games; blocks; puzzles; child-appropriate websites on the computer; ...
it's been a while since i've had a 4-year-old but there's a start, anyway.

Things we did when my little one was in a cast... puzzles, legos/blocks, finger paint, drawing, stickers, baking, bath crayons, board games, and more movies than I would ordinarily ever allow.

play-doh
making stuff out of pipe cleaners
cutting and gluing stuff to paper
painting
writing his own story (with your help if needed) and illustrating it with pictures
Legos/Duplos
playing in the bathtub
playing in sand (you can make your own sand if you don't have a sandbox, with 8 parts whole wheat flour to 1 part vegetable oil)

I'll get hate for this but it DOES work and more parents that would admit do this. Give him Benadryl. He will be drowsy enough to not need to bounce off the walls.
