After a big discussion with all involved we've decided to move our Thanksgiving gathering to Sunday.
Too many people are ending up having to work odd hours (including my hubby & 2 out of 3 of our kids)... we thought it made more sense to move it than to have people left out or choking down dinner quickly to run to work while others only come over in the evening to reheated leftovers.
I've only moved Thanksgiving a couple of times in my life due to work, usually to the following day so I'd still be there cooking on Thanksgiving Thursday. I haven't done this in many years, though, probably not since my college days.
It makes sense to all involved... we're even going to tape the morning shows & parades and watch them Sunday morning instead.
But it feels so strange! I look forward to Thanksgiving week every year.
Anyone else rescheduling their holiday this year?
PS I really hate the way the questions get posted now.

No not at least for this year. But with all the changes to
our beautiful Thanksgiving Day it may become necessary
to do that in the future and make it on Saturday. Between
football games , the parade , stores being opened with
their sales people don't care how much work you put into
cooking a lovely meal they want to eat and run.And there
is no longer time to sit and visit.

There are some in my family (including me sometimes) who are pretty POed at stores trying to skip Tday and Xmas decor already everywhere.
I may be a nonbeliever but I LOVE the holiday and it irritates me when people complain it's too commercial and then these businesses make it worse!
Besides, even though it seems like Tday is a more religious holiday, I think it still at least should be a way to provide a 'quiet' time between the holidays.

Yes, it is a good idea with so many having to work on Thanksgiving day.

My neighbors are doing that...they are holding Thanksgiving this weekend instead of next week. She is a corporate executive that will be out of town and he's a truck driver.

I totally see your point of view and yeah, after years of keeping the Thursday tradition,I can see how it would be strange. But you know what? Whatever works for you and your family is ok. No one said that it is a hard and fast rule to keep it on Thursday. At least you are celebrating with all the loved ones and no one is left out. :)

Your hatred for Muslims does not stop me from being a Muslim it actually opens my eyes up. It shows me how evil Christians in America are.
