What's up with people who think animals are human? Before u freak out: I don't mean in the case of extreme mistreatment etc.?

I don't think most people regard animals as human. Clearly they aren't. However, humans are a species of animal, and we should recognise that.

Just because an animal isn't human, that doesn't mean it's not a sentient being - it can still experience love, happiness, anger, pain and/or suffering. So people should treat animals as kindly as they can, even if they are just being bred for slaughter.

It's not a case of treating animals as human, but treating animals humanely.

I have to elaborate here as I could not get my update window to cooperate. okay, so NOT in the aspect of animals being animals in the physical, emotional, or literal sense. I'm talking about people kissing their pets and letting their pets lick them inside their mouths, and insisting that the pet would just die if left alone for two hours, etc. Not in the sense that if you kick a dog, does it feel pain? I know pets have all our own senses and more, and are capable of many intelligent activities and usefulness, but i'm talking about extreme pet love to the point the pet becomes human?

Not all animals are human. But all humans are animals. Homo Sapiens are primates. Primates are mammals. And mammals are animals. An animal is typically characterized as a multicellular organism with a centralized nervous system and the ability to move freely. Not every animal has a brain, the ability to think, or the ability to feel emotion, but the vast majority of them do.

Examples of animals that do not think or feel emotion are slugs, worms, jelly fish, sponges, etc.

Examples of animals that can think and feel emotion are humans, mice, dogs, cats, lizards, fish. insects, spiders, birds, frogs, octopusses and pretty much anything that has a spine.

The question you asked makes about as much sense as "Why do people think that plants are trees?"

I think some pet owners are extreme. They they their pet should come with them everywhere. I don't like they are allowed to come in stores. Only if the dog is a service to the blind, handicapped the dog should be allowed.

I saw a question here asking why animals don't pray to God? That's how stupid and ignorant people can be!
