Is Nigel Farrage a good role model?

You often see pictures of Nigel Farrage outside pubs smoking a cigarette. I smoke myself but in this anti smoking era is Mr Farrage setting a good example to people by being seen smoking?

I know he is trying to come across as a common man but its a bit hypocritical that he intends to ban the unemployed from buying cigarettes. So want sort of message does that send out?

Update:

Could it also be that smoking is becoming more trendy again I mean a lot of the more interesting people at college smoke too. So may be he is trying not to be seen as dull or boring?

The key is live and WORK not to live and collect benefits even if they work here as we do not get them when we go to other EU countries. We need benefits to be discretionary on having paid taxes or either parent having paid UK taxes so we can legitimately say NO within the rules

When I was a boy virtually everyone smoked and I dont think the Cancer rates were any greater ? I tried a few at about 15 but didnt like them.Thats when I took up the pipe. There has been a great many Pubs gone out of business as a direct result of the smoking ban.

Nigel represents those who are not part of the establishment, those who want to be non-PC now and again.

One Direction are first class role models for young people, ,but I am not sure who he could be a role model to ? I am much older than he is,but if I have to say anything I would have to say he wasnt, but I am not sure who he isnt to,.to ?

Nigel Forage does not agree with the nanny state. People are being told what to do as if we were all little kids. I don't smoke myself, but have nothing against those who do. Labour has made the pubs into ghost bars with everyone sitting outside in the cold smoking. If you don't smoke yourself, you're left alone like a dummy. This has killed social interaction so let's bring back the no smoking room that worked fine for so many years.

As for not being allowed to smoke if you're unemployed, I partly agree because if someone is unemployed for more than two years they are usually scroungers who don't want work. the unemployment allowance is for basic commodities such as food and bus fare to find employment.....

NOT TO DRINK, SMOKE AND ENJOY YOURSELF AT THE TAX-PAYERS EXPENSE..

If you want that then damn well work for it as I have too.

Think i'll have a glass of port right now!

Who puts these photos in the public domain? Farage himself or people trying to discredit him?

Has he not worked out that the unemployed smoker could get an employed mate to buy him a pack?

You cant base him being or not being a role model solely on the fact his smokes. Smoking does not make a person interesting, it makes them anti social.

For the tobacco and rotgut booze industries, perhaps. You have to remember, though, that his party's appeal is to C2DEngland - the sort of people who still smoke, despite everything known about smoking.

As to being perceived as One of The Lads - which is what this is about - Farage's associates try desperately to camouflage, and his supporters are largely too dimwitted to know, that he's a public schoolboy who followed a somewhat dodgy career in the City and has always been, by their standards, rolling in money.

PS And didn't this upset the Fat Baldies of the British Nazi Party Old Comrades Association? Found Out!

People have their own minds......if people start smoking because an ugly middle aged man is doing then they deserve everything that they get......

It's more likely to put people off.....!

No he shouldn't. He spoke his truth, so what if it hurts, its the truth and its honorable. We have gotten to the point where feelings of the masses matter more that the truth.
