UK News. Is air travel really worth the stress?

Is it me or is everyone fed up with the stress of air travel?

You get to the airport constantly worried that your luggage may be too heavy and that the scales you used were inaccurate.

Then you have to get rid of all liquids before passing through security and once in departures a small bottle of water costs a fortune. (why can't they have a Poundland in airports?)

As if that's not enough you reach they great fun of security you have to remove your shoes, your trouser belt, watch empty your pockets, remove laptops etc from your luggage, then they ask you to completely empty out your rucksack that took like two hours to pack.

Then when it's eventual time to board your panic that your hand luggage is a mm too big and you will not be allowed to take it or get fined.

Coming home.

You can guarantee that the transfer coach for the half hour journey to airport will pick up at a ridiculously early time like 5am so you miss the breakfast that you paid for when booking the holiday, despite your flight being at 3pm!

You then have the pleasure of nearly 9hrs waiting in an unfair conditioned airport bored to insanity. Is it worth it?

Any other experiences of the misery of air travel?

For me it is not worth the stress or the environmental damage caused by the Airline industry. as I only travel within Britain or to countries in Europe, it is easy for me to take the train

It's a pain, but unfortunately there's no other way for me to cross the US in under 24 hours to be with family for Christmas.

So until we get Star Trek style transporters, air travel will remain and will remain a pain in the rear.

I have flying for all the reasons you mentioned. This year I'm going to drive to the Caribbean.

what a hassle - its like a big brother military operation

I think going in the car - your own little environment - must be better

maybe just stay at home - and go to Germany and Russia in my dreams or via TV

Last year whilst we awaited our plane in the departure lounge there was an incident which really spooked us out. A man of asian origin came running thru the lounge shouting ....ALLAH.....ALLAH.....ALLAH....then got to the bar and said, allav a diet coke and ready salted nuts please....( fvcking stuttering ***** )

To say my bullet-hole twitched and my anxiety was up would be underplaying it. We stayed in England this year.
