HDD to SSD question?

I just got my samsung ssd 250GB and I attached it and all. However, I am confused about how to transfer my OS (windows 7) to the ssd.

I have a 1TB hdd so transferring everything is impossible which is why I just want to transfer the OS. But how would I do that without erasing it?

Use the Samsung Migration Tool to clone your hard drive to your SSD.

You may have a 1TB HDD but are you using more than 250GB of data? If not then you can proceed to clone it without any worries.

If you're using more than 250GB data then start uninstalling programs and backing up your files to another hard drive. I also suggest using CCleaner to get rid of junk files to speed up the cloning process since the little files can increase seek times more than the actual copying. I reduced my initial 10 hours of cloning (100GB of data) to roughly 15 minutes getting rid of things I don't need at the time. And no, it's best not to clone just one partition. Usually you need to clone the entire drive for it to work.

The Samsung Migration Tool will do the partitioning for you so you don't have to worry about that. They even have an easy method for you to adjust partition sizes too.
