Can a parent give 17 year old daughter consent for sex?

I know this will never ever happen...but I am 25, and I have this friend who is 17. We have been friends for about a month now...and I had already met her father. I think her father seems to like me...and see that I am a good person and that I don't want only one thing from his daughter.

Anyways, would it be legal to have sex with her if her dad gives consent? I live in California...so going off of California laws will probably be best.

I have no sexual intentions whatsoever but I am just asking this question as a general question...and I have been wondering about this. Thanks for the answers.

California age of consent is 18. You would be busted.

And thinking about sex after knowing her for a month? Sorry but this sounds like you want sex, and not any meaningful relationship.

Have you tried keeping it in your pants until you know the girl for at least 6 months?

No, a parent cannot give consent for their child to break the law, and as the age of consent is 18 In California that means a parent cannot consent to their child having sex. If they do, they can be prosecuted for it.

those under 18 can not legaly engage in s*x with those 21+ and in some cases those as young as 18+. Socially, most people would find it creepy that a guy in his mid-20s finds a teenager worth dating.

No. A father cannot give consent for someone to rape his daughter in a state in which the act would otherwise be statutory rape. (If that was possible, the parents who sell their children for sex to get drug money would be off the hook legally.) You say you don't want to have sex with her… but, there would be something seriously wrong with a 25 year old "man" who wants to date/have sex with a 7 year old GIRL.

Not necessarily, but a seventeen year old can have a sexual relationship with an older person if the parents decide they won't press charges.

No! Parents can not permit their child to break the law. Age of consent and the statutory laws apply regardless of parents consent.

You've known her only a month and have no sexual intentions, yeh right honestly! The fact that you're asking this is clear you know it's wrong but you're looking for a get out clause! Stop and look around at what you're doing....
