Eye problem with cat?

My cat is 16 and she has bright green eyes, but I've recently noticed that she has brown specks in one of them. There also appears to be a scratch on the same eye. She doesn't seem to be in any pain. Does anyone know what this could be?

If she has a scratch on her eye she needs to be seen by a vet ASAP, your vet will need to stain the eye and examine it thoroughly with an ophthalmoscope. Scratches to the eye can become very serious, very fast because if not treated aggressively with the appropriate eye meds, the scratch can turn into an ulcer and once that happens they can suffer permanent partial vision loss. If the scratch is determined to be treatable with eye meds, be sure to follow the vet's orders to the letter, the vet will most likely want to see your cat again for a recheck to make sure it is healing properly and a more invasive treatment is not necessary. But the sooner you have it checked and treated, the faster the recovery and the cheaper the vet bill. So get her in as soon as possible! Good luck.
