What, being as non-insulting as possible about it, is what the other "side" believes?

When speaking on creationism vs the theory of evolution, what do you believe the other side believes? It honestly seems to make little sense to argue against something if you don' even understand what your opponent believes.

In other words, if you are a creationist what do you believe a person who says they accept the theory of evolution believes evolution states?

The other way around of course, what would you say a creationist believes creationism means?

    I would say, in its broadest terms, creationists believe a god created things.

    I presume you're referring to Christian creationists? In particular, they believe that the God of the bible is responsible for the creation of Earth.

    -Some creationists believe God created life and designed it to adapt and evolve.

    -Some believe that God created life, and a diverse range of "kinds". Organisms adapt and even speciate, but it's not evolution because they stay within their own " kind".

    -Some believe the word of the bible to the letter. Earth is 6,000 years old, was made in six 24-hr days, and speciation does not happen.

    There are probably more flavours of creationist than this, but I think these are the main categories.

    These people are all wrong; but some are more wrong than others.

    I'm sure creation believers know far more about evolution than evolution believers do.

    Interested, so you think "evolution did it" is superior to "god did it?" Why?

    I have been insulted most of my trip, I became so used to it, that I would just Grin and Bear it; and watched the Assailant, till I had full right to Attack with the Grace of GOODNESS, as they fall to their Knees, and I still Climb Trees, I look into the Mourning SUN, with the Greatest of ease...0330/2015

    Evolutionist believe they can explain the origins of space-time, matter/energy, galaxies, the solar system, Earth, life on Earth, and human existence by reference to ONLY naturalistic processes.

    The historical hypothesis suggests that it started with a Big Bang 14bn years ago, and by luck life began 3bn years ago, and the first life form (a single celled photosynthetic bacterium) slowly turned into all life we see today.

    Mathematical probability, the fine tuning of our universe, the law of Biogenesis, the 1st Law of Information, and the complexity of all living cells, all give BIG clues that the General Theory of Evolution never happened.

    Who says people are either evolutionists or creationists? You do realize that creationism is a fundamentalist movement, and is largely Evangelical. Not all people who don't accept evolution are of that movement.

    Creationists = God did it...

    IMHO
