non stick pots n pans UK?
Hi. Im in need of some new pots and pans. I would like non-stick and ideally something that would last a very long time,a life time if such a pan exists. I have seen le crusier pans are meant to be very good but seem very expensive.
Any suggestions?

First, there are no non-stick pans that won't begin flaking and losing their non-stick quality over time (usually a year or so of good use). And most all non-stick pans will require a bit of oil when cooking things like eggs, although a few will be quite slippery in the first few months.
Some non-stick pans are better than others though, either safety-wise, longevity-wise, and/or slippery-wise.
I wouldn't bother with the Le Creuset non-stick ones since they aren't much better than many of the other better ones and are quite expensive. I also wouldn't buy the cheapest one you can find though. Something in the middle will probably be best. Calphalon has been pretty good over the years, but others may be fine too. (The general lifetime of non-stick pans is usually 1-3 years.)
To make any of non-stick cookware last as long as it can though, of course you have to follow the basic rules of non-stick cooking (even high-heat cooking can make the coatings break down sooner).

(I only use non-stick pans for cooking eggs since eggs tend to stick worse than any other food--I have to add a bit of oil for over-easy eggs even in non-stick. For cooking everything else, I'll use stainless steel or cast iron and just use sufficient oil in them to prevent sticking; those I know are safe and last a lifetime).

you have to pay for quality. if you want a pan that lasts a lifetime, you'll be looking and some serious $$$, not $20.

Cast iron. Season them well, and treat them right and they are just as good as non-stick.
