How do colleges calculate your GPA?

The GPA is calculated on the basis of all of the grades you have earned, since you started high school. It's usually given on your high school transcript.
However, the cumulative -- the total GPA including all of your grades -- is less important than students think. If you started out badly but improved over time, admissions staffers will pay more attention to your later grades than to the cumulative GPA.

Your transcripts have all your classes on them, with a calculated gpa on top. They don't so any calculating of their own.
