My Cat Isn't Drinking Water?
We just got our cat fixed, and we were told she wouldn't be very hungry today because of the surgery. But as soon as we got home, she tried to gorge on food. Eventually we pulled it away so that she wouldn't make herself sick. But she won't drink water..? We tried giving her milk, and she drank that willingly. But she's dehydrated and needs that water. Help? Thanks ahead of time.

Cats do not have a strong thirst drive. They are supposed to get most of the moisture they require from food which is why wet food is much better for cats than dry food. My cat eats one and a half cans of cat food each day (Tiki cat) and a table spoon or two of dry food (wellness core), mostly because she likes playing with her treat maze (catit design senses maze). Sometimes she just likes getting the food out of the maze and then feeds it to the dog *eye roll* lol but it's important that they eat mostly wet food.
To get her to drink more water though, I got her a water fountain. Cats will be much more likely to drink moving water than still water just in a bowl. Be prepared to clean up after your cat when you first get it though. My cat spent about the first 20 minutes playing with the fountain instead of drinking from it :P I got my cat the "catit design senses" water fountain. I think it was $20. I'm sure there cheaper fountains if you do want to buy one.
Btw, cats do LIKE milk, but they should not have it. They can't digest it properly and it will give them stomach problems :( As a treat, I will sometimes give my cat a very small dollop of whipped cream, but cats really should not be given milk.
I hope your cat heals very quickly and is healthy very soon :)

Don't give her milk. That is bad for her, Water down some wet food and give her that. No milk.
