Question about ability to cry...?

For a long time I couldn t cry, no matter how sad something was. I even had my brother die and I felt bad, but couldn t get tears out. Tonight I cried, not a lot though, and felt it a little more. Is it like breaking a seal? I hadn t cried in years no matter how bad it got. But now that I ve cried once, should I be able to cry again in the near future?

Update:

I dealt with a lot that I believe hardened my heart so to speak. I believe that that is why I couldn't cry, but now things are calming down. My brother died a month ago. These were the first tears I could get out for him. There weren't a lot. I do love him very much, and never wanted him to die at 22. He was my bro. But I want to be able to feel it more, and to cry more. I feel bad that I couldn't before. Should I be able to cry more now? Or revert to tearless person?

PS- I'm 18. Male.

It worked that way for me, but I don't know if that was the reason.
